BIG DAN AND THE INSPIRING RIDE

Here recently our daughter, Sunshine Kid, had a friend over at their arena. Her friend is Katy and they went to an equine high school together and Miami University together and they are on a drill team together. Katy decided she was going to ride Big Dan bareback in the arena. Big Dan is a Percheron and no one has ever ridden him in any form or fashion. He is a big boy that is used to pulling the carriages/buggies. There was no harness or bit and reins for Katy to hold on to, just horse. She just jumped on and took off. Hannah’s husband ,Matt, was by her side but that did not last long when Big Dan took off and was doing his own thing running around in the arena. Going around one of the corners Katy had to jump off and her dismount was an OUTSTANDING Olympic score of 10 ! What a ride !!! As they would say down home, “she did real gooder”.

I just now came in from feeding and watering the horses and God reminded me as the sun was rising of what people are going through each day with illnesses and financial problems and relationship problems with a spouse or child or problems at work or have been laid off from work. Folks are living through all kinds of situations and circumstances but the God of Love is there to inspire and to motivate and to renew and refresh us. He is the God of creation who comes and dwells within us. Jesus taught in John 14:20, “you shall know that I am in my Father and you in me, and I in you”.

Big Dan is like our storms. We need to ride through so we can grow and mature into what He created us to become. Maybe your Big Dan is overcoming an addiction for yourself or for a loved one. Maybe your Big Dan is to live in the calling Daddy God has placed on your life. Maybe your Big Dan is removing fears that control and manipulate you. Maybe your Big Dan is laying down the guilt and shame you have been carrying round in your saddlebags for years because of what you did or what someone else did to you.

Do you know what Katy said when she walked back over to us? “I did it and I will do it again”. The seemingly impossible became possible. The very first Bible verse I remembered was Philippians 4:13, ”I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me”.

There is no speed bump high enough to keep you from not going over that Big Dan. The God of love is there with you and within you and has given you the resources of the Kingdom through Jesus just for you. He created you to have an intimate relationship with you !

Daddy God has so much faith in you my friend. Jump on Big Dan and experience what God can do for you. Amen !!!

Love and blessings to each of you,

Rev. Doug
